About

Bluesberry Jam Showband, based in Squamish, B.C., has been playing blues, rock and R&B covers and originals for over 20 years. Founded by Keith Junkin, Woody Woodridge and Antti Makitalo in the early 90’s, the band seeks to honour a genre of music that is at the root of nearly every radio hit ever released.

Squamish’s beloved undectet started out as a 6 piece guitar-based blues, roots/rock band. In recent years the band has nearly doubled in size with the addition of a 4 piece horn section and 3 back up singers, to become the Bluesberry Jam Showband, a smokin’ hot 11 piece R&B band with a strong local following, packing dance floors wherever they play.

Led by bluesman Papa ‘Woody’ Woodridge on vocals, the band is made up of the talented Antti Makitalo on guitar, Keith Junkin on tenor sax and guitar, Brian Marchant on bass, Ken McLeod on drums, Douglas Chiasson on harp, Liesl Petersen on vocals and trombone, Stan Thomson on alto sax, Bryan Davies on trumpet, Rita Kyle on vocals and bass and Samantha Sinanan on vocals.

Many of the Bluesberry alumni still return to the band to sit in at shows which is a testament to the staying power of the music and friendship forged over the years.
